4 Handy tips to spring clean your desk
Spring has finally sprung! The weather is finally getting better (no more snow) and the sun is shining again. Fortunately, with clearer weather comes an even clearer reality. And that reality is that your desk is a MESS.
Crumbs on the keyboard, receipts scattered everywhere, random sheets of paper with unintelligible scribbles on them, does this all sound familiar?
Even though your desk might seem like a lost cause, there's help at hand. We've cultivated a list of helpful tips that'll help you clean up your act!
1) Declutter to flutter
Be honest how many papers or post it notes are you holding on to that you just need to let go? Don't worry, you're not the only one! Part of spring cleaning is all about starting afresh, so whilst you really want to hold onto that scribble of that website that seemed quite helpful at the time, you probably should get rid of it. Bon voyage!
2) Green Thumb
After de-cluttering your desk of mess, it might seem redundant to add unnecessary thing to it, but if you've got room why not? Adding a plant to your desk can jazz up your work space and break it up from being a bit too heavy on work. Your plant doesn't have to be big, or real for that matter, just something colourful and calming to look at when you're having a stressful day.
3) Get organised
We're not just here to highlight problems, we're going to give you solutions too! Preventing a mess is always good as it'll help keep your desk cleaner for longer. Organising your papers/forms/anything else into three categories: green, amber and red. It'll help you prioritise things that need to be done immediately and save you space.
4) Get in the inbox
Whilst cleaning your desk might be a priority, the mess inside your computer might also need a little love and attention. Cleaning out your email inbox is something we all say we're going to do at one point, but don't. Well, now is a good time to actually do it. Get happy with that delete button!
